    Accepted at almost all hotels, restaurants and supermarkets. The default for tourists.

  • Contactless / Apple Pay / Google Pay

    Common at hotels, larger restaurants and chain stores. Less reliable at small rum shops or beach vendors.

  • US dollars (cash)

    Widely accepted in tourist areas. Change is usually given back in BBD at a 2:1 rate, sometimes rounded.

  • American Express

    Accepted at upscale hotels and resorts, but not everywhere. Carry a Visa/MC as a backup.

  • Cash (BBD)

    Best for buses, ZRs, beach vendors, rum shops, fish-fry stalls and small tips.

    Common on the south and west coasts. Reliable ATMs at hotels and supermarkets.

  • RBC Royal Bank

    Branches in Bridgetown, Holetown and Warrens. Accepts most international cards.

  • Scotiabank

    Several Bridgetown branches. ATMs accept Visa/Mastercard/Plus/Cirrus.

  • Airport (Grantley Adams) has ATMs in the arrivals hall — handy for first BBD cash.
  • Withdrawals typically dispense BBD; some machines offer USD. Expect a local fee of ~BBD 10–15 per withdrawal plus your home bank's fee.
  • Use ATMs attached to bank branches or inside supermarkets/hotels for safety, especially at night.
  • Tell your home bank you're travelling to Barbados to avoid your card being blocked.
  • Cover the keypad — standard precaution, not a Barbados-specific issue.
