Why people love it
A standout slice of Barbados
Six-acre tropical garden on the east coast above Bathsheba — orchids, palms, hibiscus and ferns laid out along a clifftop stream.
What to expect
The experience, end to end
Founded in 1954 by horticulturalist Iris Bannochie and now run as a heritage garden, Andromeda spills down a hillside above the Atlantic at Bathsheba.
Self-guided trails wind through one of the Caribbean's best collections of tropical plants — including heliconias, orchids, palms and the famous bearded fig tree the island is named after.
The on-site café (Hibiscus) is a worthwhile stop on its own.
