Why people love it

A standout slice of Barbados

Barbados' best-known natural attraction — a crystallised limestone cave system at the heart of an eco-adventure park, with tram tours, ziplines, nature trails and a Mount Gay rum experience.

What to expect

The experience, end to end

Carved over thousands of years from pure coral limestone, Harrison's Cave sits in the central uplands of St.

Thomas and is one of Barbados' national treasures.

Today it anchors the Harrison's Cave Eco-Adventure Park (operated by Chukka), where the iconic electric tram tour glides through chambers of stalactites, stalagmites, underground streams and waterfalls.

Above ground the park layers on the Monkey Zipline, Gully Challenge Course, Pride of Barbados nature trail, a bird aviary, the Mount Gay Rum tasting and experience, the Green Monkey Pool and a poolside bar and grill — a genuine full-day, all-weather attraction.

A more strenuous Eco-Adventure cave hike (wading, climbing and crawling through the natural passages) is offered for the adventurous.

Before you go

  • Book ahead in high season and around cruise-ship days — popular tram-tour slots sell out.
  • The Signature Park Pass (tram tour, nature trail, aviary, rum tasting) starts around US$65; the Adventure Pass adding zipline and challenge course is around US$135–185.
  • Tram tour itself runs about 45 minutes to an hour.
  • Closed-toe shoes are recommended and bring a light layer — the cave stays cool year-round.
  • Photography (including flash) is welcome.
